Pausing vs. deleting a username subdomain
Understand the difference and what happens to your aliases in each case.
Each username you claim creates a private subdomain (e.g. anything@you.maskr.online). You can pause or delete a username from Dashboard → Domains.
Pausing a username
When you pause a username, all incoming email to *@<username>.maskr.online is temporarily deferred — the sending server's queue retries automatically. Your aliases remain intact. You can unpause at any time and mail resumes immediately.
- Aliases show a locked 🔒 badge in the Email Masks dashboard
- You cannot manually activate an alias on a paused username
- No email is lost — sending servers retry automatically
Deleting a username
Deleting a username is permanent and irreversible. The username is quarantined — it cannot be claimed again by any account, including yours. All aliases under that username are permanently locked and cannot be re-activated, even if you add a new username with the same name.
What happens to aliases?
- Paused username: Aliases remain, mail is deferred, toggle On/Off is disabled until you unpause
- Deleted username: Aliases are permanently locked — the toggle is greyed out and shows a 'Subdomain Deleted' badge
