How the Active Spam & Phishing Shield works
How Maskr automatically filters and drops unsolicited spam and spoofed phishing before forwarding.
Maskr's Active Spam & Phishing Shield inspects incoming email at the routing edge before forwarding it to your destination inbox. Unlike basic forwarding that pushes junk straight to your personal email, Maskr analyzes domain authentication headers (SPF, DKIM, and DMARC) and upstream spam signals.
What gets blocked automatically?
- Spoofed Send-As Fraud: Emails where the sender pretends to be a trusted brand (e.g. PayPal, Apple, or your bank) but fails DMARC authentication.
- Commercial Spam Outbursts: High-confidence unsolicited spam flagged by upstream mail transport analyzers.
- Blocked Senders: Any specific sender you have added to your mask's personal blocklist in the dashboard.
Zero Impact on Bandwidth
Emails blocked by the Spam Shield are permanently dropped and destroyed in-memory. They do not consume your monthly bandwidth allowance and do not count towards your usage.
If you ever notice unwanted newsletters continuing to hit a mask, you can either add the sender to your alias blocklist or toggle the mask off completely to kill all inbound mail instantly.
